Dr Julia Reid MEP acted as a judge on the panel for the Young Independence Seymour Prize Public Speaking Competition on Thursday 25th September at UKIP’s National Conference at Doncaster Racecourse. MEPs Nathan Gill and Jill Seymour were also on the panel, along with former UKIP leader Jeffrey Titford.

Young Independence members competed for the Shield and a £100 prize, on the subject of ‘why young people would benefit from being out of the EU’. Competitors were judged on several different categories: Content; delivery and presentation.

The winner of the prize was  Johnny Shilton from Bedfordshire. In second place came Christopher Vaughan and in third place was Jamie McGowan.
