South West and Gibraltar MEP Dr Julia Reid has blasted barmy Brussels bureaucrats for suggesting banning school children from having newspaper rounds. The European Committee of Social Rights, which is part of the Council of Europe, wants to outlaw children’s paper rounds as they believe they could have a harmful impact on their education. Commenting today on the move, UKIP MEP Dr Julia Reid , said the suggestion of a ban was “ridiculous” and was yet another example of unnecessary EU meddling.
Dr Reid, said: “The suggestion to outlaw children’s newspaper rounds is complete nonsense.
“At the end of the day we are talking about enterprising and hard working children here who are trying to earn some extra pocket money. “The suggested ban is ridiculous and I will fight any a ban being introduced”, she added.
